Lapis Lazuli is the traditional birthstone for December, the Zodiac
gemstone for Libra and Capricorn and the anniversary stone for
the 7th and 9th year of marriage. Romans used Lapis as
an aphrodisiac. Egyptians used Lapis for seals, ground in
for eye shadow, and carved it into vases and figurines. In Ancient
times in was ground, added to milk and applied as a compress to
cure ulcers and boils.
Lapis
is used to energize the Throat Chakra and when placed over the
Brow Chakra it induces a heighten state of awareness. Spiritualists
believe Lapis strengthens total awareness, creativity, ESP, the
skeleton and thyroid. It is also believed to improve sleep and
cure insomnia.
